How it works
We are back to business as usual this year, with porch pickups! This year, instead of sending out bags, we are asking you to put donations of non-perishable food or toiletries in a well-marked bag or bags on your porch by 9am on December 3rd. Volunteers will come around to pick up your donation. Out of caution, volunteers won't be knocking on doors.
You can also make a financial contribution or send a check. All the food and money collected goes directly to the Clark County Food Bank to help those in need.
Finally, we will have drop-off barrels at all Riverview Community Bank, Les Schwab Tire Center and Cost Less Auto Parts locations. You can donate non-perishable food or toiletries at any of these locations.
When it happens
The Drive & Drop Food Drive event occurs on the first Saturday of December, starting at 9:00 a.m. The collection barrels will be available for your donations between December 1st and December 14th.
Who participates
Every year, volunteers come from the Vancouver Lions, civic clubs, Clark County Amateur Radio Club, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, local church groups, high school clubs, and several other organizations, as well as hundreds of other individuals who answer the call for help. Members from local service organizations and other community leaders head up the various staging sites.
Where it is
Walk & Knock encompasses the entire Clark County area. By the end of drive day, the food-laden trucks head to Clark County Food Bank where space in a warehouse has been donated to store and sort the food. By the end of the following week, the food is distributed to 15 local food banks.
Who we are
Clark County Inter-service Walk & Knock is a Washington non–profit corporation, approved by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, that serves Clark County, Washington by soliciting charitable donations of food, supplies and money, which in turn are given to the Clark County food banks to provide food to needy individuals within our community.
Clark County Inter-service Walk & Knock is governed by a board of Trustees elected by its members. The members of Walk & Knock include Vancouver Lions, civic clubs, and members of the Clark County Amateur Radio Club. These organizations fund Walk & Knock by donating an annual fee of $250 per organization. This pays for items such as insurance, postage, stationery, and other items as required by law. Most of the needed supplies and services are donated, and advertising is paid for by corporate and private sponsors. No public funds are used for anything other than for the purchase of food. Walk & Knock is 100% privately funded. Volunteering members include the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Campfire USA, whose groups provide volunteers each year to participate in the Walk & Knock event.
