BACK TO THE FUTUREOur Board has decided to return to traditional porch pickup of donations for our next drive, Saturday, Dec. 3. Yea! But with a couple of modifications – we won’t knock on doors this year for safety and to speed pickups. Fewer volunteers can cover more ground this way. (No, we’re not changing our name!) |

ANNUAL MEETINGMark your calendars for our annual meeting – Monday, May 9, 6:30 p.m., at the Clark County Food Bank, 6502 NE 47th Ave., Vancouver. This is when our “owners,” dues-paying civic clubs, vote to elect officers and approve our budget. All are welcome. |

PARTY ONPreceding the annual meeting, starting at 5 p.m. on May 9, we will host a reception for all of you – the Walk & Knock family who make the nation’s largest local one-day food drive possible. The Food Bank will provide light snacks and beverages, so come, mingle and meet some cool people. Bring a friend and introduce them to the joys of helping others. |

BIG GIVENot only did we collect more than 104,000 pounds of food last year, generous donors contributed over $95,000. Your Board rounded that up to $100,000 and in January, we presented a Big Check to Alan Hamilton and the Clark County Food Bank. Our biggest cash contribution ever! |

WELCOMETo our new secretary, Pam Pfeifer of the Ridgefield Lions. Pam graciously agreed to succeed Kandie King as W&K secretary. Write on! |

SMALL ASK, BIG TASKGoing back to traditional porch pickups means we will need a LOT of volunteers. We recognize that in addition to all the donations we collect – did I mention we’re the largest local one-day food drive in the entire US of A? – we also engage 3,000 to 4,000 mostly young people in a charitable activity. That’s a big deal in itself. But those volunteers don’t grow on trees. And after three years away, it will be a challenge to re-engage all the volunteers we need. |
