THERE ARE MANY WAYS THAT YOU CAN HELP
- Donate by Credit Card
- Donate by Check
- Donate Supplies
- Donate Food
- Donate Time
- Become a Corporate Sponsor
You can use your credit card to make a tax-deductible donation to purchase food:
This can be done through Network for Good. Like all credit card clearing houses, Network for Good does charge a 3% fee on all credit card transactions that they process on our behalf.
Walk & Knock is run 100% by volunteers and we have no paid staff. All public donations that we receive will be used to purchase food.
Send a check payable to Interservice Walk & Knock. Our address is PO Box 353, Vancouver, WA 98666.
Each year we use approximately:
- 8000 boxes
- 3 dozen rolls of 2" or 3" package strapping tape
- 3500 removable adhesive id labels (in sheets of 8-labels/sheet)
- 300 large trash bags
- 5,000 #10 envelopes
- 200 1st Class US Postage Stamps
- 15 reams of plain white #20 copy paper (used for providing instructions and updated maps to volunteers)
- 4 reams of multi-colored #30 copy paper (used for vehicle signs)
- 40 to 50 large barrels to place at collection points throughout the Clark County area.
These items can be donated directly, or a monetary donation can be made specifically earmarked for purchasing supplies.
Most of these items are donated each year, but we will always need more. When we do purchase these items, it is done so using funds that we have received from private sources, donated specifically for administrative expenditures. If you would like to make a donation of supplies, please use the Contact Us Form.
Walk & Knock volunteers go door to door collecting bagged food donations. Donations can also be delivered to any of several food drop barrel locations the week before and after the first Saturday in December.
Make a difference and volunteer.
Each year we fall short of the number of volunteers that are needed to sufficiently cover the entire county to collect food. We need as much help as we can get, both walkers and vehicles.
You can sign-up by going to the Volunteer Page. There you will find a listing of all of the volunteer opportunities that are available, as well as locations, dates and times.
Donations from corporate sponsors pay for paper bag expenses as well as the supplies listed above. The bags are delivered to households in Clark County by the four newspapers with circulation here.
These paper bags list the items most needed, the date and times of the food drive, and other information intended to encourage people to give food. Corporate sponsors also pay for the advertising for the event.
The more sponsors that we have, the more advertising we are able to do. This directly impacts the amount of food collected as well as number of volunteers who turn out to help.
There are benefits to being a corporate sponsor. Details can be found on the Sponsor Page on our website.
